We are currently looking to appoint a number of volunteers to act as "Ambassadors" to help the charity. Wessex Heartbeat would like to hear from individuals who could give their time freely and enthusiastically to help us promote the charity and forge fundraising relationships across the region.

We are looking for people who could champion Wessex Heartbeat's cause during the course of their business or private lives.
They would also be involved in helping to promote the excellent work of the medical staff in the Cardiac Unit of Southampton General Hospital.

Wessex Heartbeat's Chief Executive Officer, D'Arcy Myers said: "The charity has raised more than £11 million since 1992, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. Now in these challenging economic times we need continued support to broaden and increase our fundraising activity throughout the Wessex region. Our new ambassadors will play a pivotal role in helping us fulfil our mission that everyone affected by heart conditions receives the best possible support."

Key tasks for the Ambassadors would include creating a volunteer network in their own area and guiding volunteers in their fundraising events. In return Ambassadors would have the backing and encouragement of the Wessex Heartbeat team in all aspects of their role including:
  • Regular meetings and updates on the charity
  • Resource pack including case studies, leaflets and a "how to" guide
  • Examples of fundraising ideas and sample merchandise
  • Training on aspects of fundraising and gift aid
  • Newsletters and marketing materials to help with recruiting volunteers
  • Advice from our fundraising team

In addition, Ambassadors would have the chance to make a difference within their community and have the appreciation of vulnerable patients and their families who need our support.
