This is our thank you page for all our fundraisers and supporters who have donated time and money to help us support the Wessex Cardiac Centre. If you have organised an event or raised money by other means, and you would like to be mentioned below, please contact us with more details and, if possible, a photograph.

Mr D M King, the Musical Director of the Southampton Youth Wind Band sent in a cheque for £400, which is the proceeds from the Youth Wind Band's Christmas Concert.

Janet Markley raised £540 by holding a golden wedding anniversary party and asking for donations to Wessex Heartbeat instead of presents.

Amanda Windsor and Cher Ryder organised a 10 mile sponsored walk from Eastleigh bus station to the Leigh Park Bandstand. They organised the event in memory of Dereck Evans and Robert Hanna and raised £250.

Matthew Cornick organised a cake sale with his friends, Chris Corben and Toby Gillett to raise money and awareness for Wessex Heartbeat as part of their citizenship project at school. Matthew was a patient on E1, the children's ward, in September 2009 and had 3 operations on his heart. He said "I felt the care facilities were excellent. I used the facilities such as the teenage room, which kept me entertained during my stay in hospital. I was grateful for this and decided that when I got better I would like to contribute in some way."

They raised £100 towards the Young Adults Cardiac Unit Appeal.


St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Aldershot - logo

 

Children at Saint Joseph's Catholic Primary School took part in a Healthy Schools Week and raised £185.85 by dressing up in sports wear mufti.

The school council wrote: "Our teacher, Mrs Williams, has a little boy called Daniel and he was looked after in PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit) and Ocean Ward in Southampton hospital when he was born and when he had to have an operation on his heart. He is now much better and we have seen him running around when he came to visit our school."

Heathlands Social Club holds regular coffee mornings to raise money for Wessex Heartbeat. The residents of Heathlands Court in Dibden Purlieu have raised £273.92.

 

Ken Rolfe and other spinners at Totton Health & Leisure

 

Ken Rolfe sent in a donation for £175 which he raised by taking part in a "Big Spin" at Totton Health & Leisure alongside about 75 other competitors. He undertook at 2 hour static cycle ride or ‘spin' in and raised sponsorship for Wessex Heartbeat and Naomi House.


Christmas Party - wine glasses, candles and roses

 

Paris Smith raised £200 at their Christmas Party which they have donated to Wessex Heartbeat. They have also signed up for two "Your Healthy Heart" events for their employees, taking place in 2010.

Warminster United Church hold regular coffee mornings. Jenny Sanderson organised the November coffee morning and raised £190 for Wessex Heartbeat.


Wedding Flower Arrangement

 

The Chalke Valley Flower Club arrange flowers for Weddings and ask for a donation to charity for their work, raising £300 in the process.


Dress Down Day - 4 suits and a casual outfit

 

Mr Gordon Johnston, Managing Directors of hjs Solutions, and his employees raised £47.97 by holding a dress down day in their office.


Dishes of curry and rice

 

At the age of 77, 'Connie' still works regular shifts behind the bar at Southbourne Conservative Club. Connie arranged a curry night for friends, family and members of Southbourne Conservative Club and raised £170 for Wessex Heartbeat.


Jewellery made from opals and silver

 

Mrs Betty Robinson gave a talk to the Southampton Hospitals Heart Support Group on "Mainly Opals" and sold some homemade jewellery at one of their meetings. She donated the proceeds from the sale of the jewellery and the payment for her talk to Wessex Heartbeat. 


Gillingham Church

 

Gillingham Methodist Church have donated £260.59 which was collected during refreshments following their Sunday morning services. The Church Council nominated Wessex Heartbeat as their charitable cause for this 6 month period.

Mr David Hobbs and his company Hobbs the Printers - raised £755 by putting on a Staff Golf Day and taking part in "Your Healthy Heart".

Mrs E Doe asked friends and family to donate to Wessex Heartbeat instead of birthday presents for her 80th Birthday, raising £298.

Ms Meg Chastney, during her year as Ladies Captain at Barton on Sea Golf Club, has organised several events and raised £8,256.

Terry Graves had a heart attack following which he had 3 stents fitted at the Wessex Cardiac Centre. His friends at The Hampshire Bike Trial Club organised a play day and barbecue to raise funds for Wessex Heartbeat. Terry and Hazel Graves presented Wessex Heartbeat with a cheque for a super £255.


60th Birthday Cake candles

 

For Stephen Withey's 60th Birthday, he asked for donations to Wessex Heartbeat in lieu of gifts and his generous friends gave £240.


Just Bike cyclists at start of challenge

 

Terry Ozanne raised over £600 by taking part in Just Bike, a challenging 100km cycle ride on mixed terrain through the Sussex countryside.


Great South Runners 2009 Stuart King, Mo Farah and Rob Chappell

 

Congratulations to all the Great South Runners who took part on behalf of Wessex Heartbeat. We had 26 runners taking part who have raised over £2000 already. One of those runners, Stuart King, completed the Great South Run in 1hour and 21minutes and has raised over £300 so far. Photo: Stuart King, Mo Farrah & Rob Chappell.
