Walk for Ryan raises thousands for Appeal

Marc, Tony and Jackie Gilmore
The Walk for Ryan in memory of Ryan Gilmore, who died of a heart condition aged 12, has raised over £16,000 for the HIGH 5 Appeal.

More than 200 people braved torrential rain to walk four miles around Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley on what would have been Ryan's 18th birthday.

Walkers donated to take part and family, friends, colleagues and members of the community generously gave to a raffle and auction that followed the walk.

A huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the event.

David Gower backs Zac's HIGH 5 skydive

David Gower shows his support for ZacFormer Hampshire and England cricketer and Wessex Heartbeat Patron, David Gower has given his support to The Ageas Bowl's Group Commercial Director, Zac Toumazi for his skydive on 22 May to raise funds for the HIGH 5 Appeal.

Zac said; “I am scared of heights so what better way to deal with this than jumping out of a plane, 13,000 feet (two and a half miles) up? I’m particularly looking forward to the 45 seconds of free fall before the parachute opens at 6,000ft, when I can enjoy the "leisurely" ride back down to earth under the canopy. Oh, and by the way, I will have a Red Devil strapped to my back!

“In all seriousness, though, I am challenging my fear of heights in the hope of raising lots of money for Wessex Heartbeat, who are a fantastic charity. Though some of the staff at The Ageas Bowl may be wishing to sponsor the parachute company in the hope they use inferior twine, either way, I and, of course, Wessex Heartbeat are grateful for any support.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor Zac can do so at www.justgiving.com/zac-toumazi.
