Life saving grant awarded by Wessex Heartbeat

Wessex Heartbeat recently funded a new Portable Suction Unit for the Cardiac Department at a cost of £680. 

Karen Elkins, Senior Sister of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Outpatients, said that the unit was, “an invaluable piece of equipment used on a patient during cardiac arrest as it clears secretions and maintains the patients airway.” 

The funding for this Unit is just one of a number of grants Wessex Heartbeat gives for specialist equipment, as well as for training and education for the Cardiac Centre’s staff.
