Pickwick Personalities Putt Prize

The 2nd Wessex Heartbeat Alan Ball Golf Day proved to be an above par event raising £3116 for the regional cardiac charity. Blustery conditions and driving rain failed to dampen the spirits of teams battling it out at the prestigious Hamptworth Golf and Country Club, Landford, near Salisbury.

The team from Pickwick Estates Limited, Hamble, lifted the trophy, with team member Danny Randall achieving a hole in one on the 10th. Last year's defending champions, Lawton Communications Group, of Southampton, finished in runner-up position. The prize for nearest the pin was won by Dr Iain Simpson, and the longest drive accolade went to Calum Donnelly. The annual Wessex Heartbeat charity golf competition was renamed in 2008 and dedicated to the memory of footballing legend Alan Ball, who died in April 2007 at his home in Warsash, Hampshire, following a heart attack. Alan, who was the youngest member of England's 1966 World Cup-winning team, was a regular participant in the golf competition and an avid supporter of Wessex Heartbeat.
