Santa Dash 2009

Border of Christmas Fairy Lights

Escape the trauma of Christmas shopping and join the 2009 "Santa Dash".

This year Wessex Heartbeat has been chosen as the benefiting charity for the fun 5km run/walk/dash which is taking place on Southampton Common on Sunday 13th December and will start at 10.30am.

Santa's runningThe Common is a area of stunning natural beauty so don't worry if you get their early, there's plenty to see before and after all that Santa Dashing. It's the largest open space in the City boundaries (326 acre site). It's also a haven for flora and fauna and has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest with the inclusion of the Hawthorns Urban Wildlife Centre which gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the local ecology and wildlife.

The Southampton Santa dash is a scenic, slightly undulating in places, course that we're confident will give you that elusive "great I've escaped the city for an hour" feeling. The Start/Finish line is halfway up Coronation Avenue south. The course is basically a well balanced couple of laps of Southampton Common. There are a couple of long straights for those that are looking for a PB and superb scenery for those that aren't.

Whilst Donner & Blitzen won't be on hand to help the Santa's make it round the course, every 'Dasher' will get their own Santa costume included in the entry fee, plus a medal on completion. It would be a truly great Christmas present for Wessex Heartbeat if every "Santa" was able to raise at least £20 through sponsorship. For a sponsorship form click here or e-mail the fundraising team, or for further information and to enter online visit the Santa Dash official website.

We look forward to seeing you on the day - HO! HO! HO!
