Fabulous Fundraising With Fashion And Flair

Elegant models sashayed along the catwalk with great panache for a Wessex Heartbeat charity fundraising evening.

"Fashion in the Forest" raised more than £2,600 and attracted over 220 people when it was held at the Lyndhurst Park Hotel on April 30.

The successful evening of flair and finesse was staged by The Rotary Club of the New Forest. The two main organisers were Totton resident, Tim Richardson, the club's Community Services Chairman, and his wife Tina, who works for Wessex Heartbeat, and is the Heartbeat Education Centre Events Co-ordinator.

The evening of glitz and glamour featured fashions by Sofikas of Lyndhurst and Phase Eight of Lymington, makeovers, accessories, and wine and canapés.

There was live entertainment from The Tuesday Girls, and a grand raffle which included a prize of £500 worth of vouchers from Arvella Bridal of Lyndhurst.

Organiser Tim Richardson paid tribute to the sponsorship of Bridle Insurance Brokers of Lyndhurst and said that the evening surpassed their expectations.

Wessex Heartbeat benefited by more than £2,000 from the event and the remainder of the proceeds was donated to the Rotary Club's charity of the year, the New Forest Branch of the Alzheimer's Society.
