Wight Challenge Raises A Phenomenal Sum

Wessex Heartbeat would like to say a massive thank you to all the teams who took part in the 2009 Wight Challenge, and to all their wonderful sponsors. The support shown has been FANTASTIC and the teams managed to raise the phenomenal sum of £26,144.80! We are very grateful for their huge effort and hard work, not just in taking on the physical challenge but fundraising as well.

We are delighted to say that the funds that have been raised will keep Heartbeat House, a home-from-home providing free accommodation for patients' relatives just a few minutes walk from the hospital, open for four months. The remaining £10,000 will go towards the Young Adult Cardiac Unit (YACU) Appeal to raise £1.4 million to create a specially designed 24 bed unit at Southampton General Hospital for young adults with heart conditions.

We would love to see some new faces in the Wight Challenge this year, and would welcome the teams who took part last year to join us again for the Wight Challenge 2010 and help us to beat last year's fundraising total, so we can continue to make a real difference to the lives of local babies, children, adults and their loved ones living with a heart condition by helping them to receive the best possible care and support.

If you would like to take part in the 2010 Wight Challenge, registration has opened and it's first come, first served. So log on to the Wight Challenge website and register your team. We only have space for 45 teams and it costs £120 per team. For any queries please contact: info@wightchallenge.co.uk or 07790 401 036.

If you would like to speak to a member of the fundraising team about raising sponsorship and fundraising ideas, please contact Tina Richardson on 02380 795928 or email tina@heartbeat.org.uk, however all registrations must go through the Wight Challenge website directly.
