richard lewis In LESS THAN 2 WEEKS ! I will be taking part in the toughest mass participation sporting challenge I can imagine, I will (hopefully) become an IRONMAN.
Ironman is a triathlon of epic proportions, it consists of a 2.4 mile sea swim a 112mile bike ride around the mountains of west Wales followed by a 26.2 mile run through the streets and hills of Tenby.

This will only be the second triathlon I have ever done (the first didn't go well, I crashed out on the bike course and ended up carrying the bike for 16 miles).

Its now days until the event and nervous doesn't cut it, I have trained for months and am now at the point I need to rest my aching limbs for a few days before diving (literally) in to the main event.
Throughout the training I have set my self target times to keep motivated, at this point I have done all I can its now down to the conditions on the day. I will be setting off for the sea swim at 7am on Sunday the 15th of September and have to finish the swim, bike and run before 11pm on the same day. I have a very loose target time of 13-14 hours if the weather and puncture gods are kind, but to be honest just finishing will be accomplishment enough for me.
I will be totally self sufficient during this period, any 'help' from supporters leads to disqualification and a very upsetting end to my event.
This is going to push me to my physical and mental limits, so please support me in any way you can.

Every day I see the fantastic work done in this Southampton General Hospital, but I also see where we can improve, heartbeat are part of this improvement in providing support and resources well beyond the means of what the hospital could achieve alone.
The support they provide saves lives, I want to be part of that in any way I can.

Thank you
