Emma Marshall has secured a job as a singer and entertainer at Warner Leisure Hotels’ Lakeside Coastal Village resort in Hayling Island after entering Wessex Heartbeat’s Wessex Factor last year.

Emma blew the judges away right from the outset, securing her place in the finals after wowing in the first heats.

She replicated her success in the live finals, going on to win a place on the line-up at Wessex Heartbeat’s annual variety show at Mayflower Theatre. It was there she was spotted by talent scouts from Warner Leisure Hotels, who invited her to audition through her singing teacher and gave her the job.

“It is absolutely my dream job and what I’ve always wanted to do. Getting to sing and perform every day is just amazing and it’s so rewarding seeing people having fun on their holidays. There aren’t many full-time jobs in singing so I’m extremely lucky to have landed this as my first job out of university.” - Emma Marshall

Emma, from Southampton, studied at Chichester University and lives in Southampton.

Ken Wilde, who runs the talent competition for Wessex Heartbeat, says Emma’s story is a great example of how the competition can make a real difference to people’s lives.

“We are over the moon for Emma. The competition provides such a brilliant platform for local performers to get out there and the fact that Emma secured her dream job as a result is such a bonus.” - Ken Wilde

Other local performers could be in with a chance of replicating Emma’s success, with entries to this year’s Wessex Factor due to open in the coming months. Ken added: “Emma’s proof that the competition can really open doors so we’re urging all local performers, whether they’re singers, dancers, jugglers or comedians, to take part this year.”
