Cardiac charity to make mark in Dorset by appointing new fundraiser

A leading cardiac charity has appointed a new Dorset fundraiser to win the region’s heart.

Heartbeat has appointed Amelia Firetto as its newest fundraiser who will be responsible for connecting the charity to an untapped area of the south.

Amelia brings a vibrant mix of experience across marketing and management and has even headed up her own business.

She said: “I’d worked solo for a while running my print business and I wanted a role where I could be part of a team again. I was really impressed by Heartbeat’s work. It’s clear to see it’s making a huge positive impact on the Southampton area, and I’m looking forward to replicating this in Dorset.

“The team have encouraged me to bring my own perspective and experience to the role, and I’ve already been networking, meeting new people and making connections. Next up will be Christmas which I’m already laying out plans for!”

Heartbeat is best known for Rotary Heartbeat House – a ‘home from home’ accommodation based just a stone’s throw from University Hospital Southampton where cardiac patients’ families can be close by during treatment.

40% of the house’s residents come from Dorset with the hospital providing specialist cardiac care to the entirety of the south.

CEO of Heartbeat Mark Ind said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Amelia to the team. A big portion of the people we support at Heartbeat are from Dorset, but we’re yet to establish a presence there. I’m really excited to see where Amelia’s expertise will take us.”
