Employee Heart Health Initiative at Meachers

Meachers Global Logistics recently partnered with Heartbeat, a leading heart health charity, to deliver on-site heart health check-ups for its staff. As part of this initiative, over 50 team members took part in the screenings, demonstrating a strong commitment to personal wellbeing and preventative care. This collaboration reflects Meachers’ ongoing dedication to fostering a healthy, supportive workplace environment.

Comprehensive Health Screenings

The health checks, carried out by Heartbeat professionals, were designed to be quick, informative, and non-invasive. Each session included:

Blood Pressure Check – To monitor for hypertension, a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. 

Blood Glucose Check – To help identify early signs of diabetes or blood sugar imbalances. 

Health Talk – A short, personalised discussion on lifestyle and heart health. 

BMI Check – To assess body mass index and associated health risks. 

Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Detection – identify irregular heart rhythms.

The Importance of AFib Screening

Atrial fibrillation is a common heart rhythm disorder where the heart beats irregularly and often rapidly. If left undetected, AFib can significantly increase the risk of stroke due to the formation of blood clots that may travel to the brain. Early detection enables timely medical intervention and reduces the risk of serious complications.
