Now in its fifteenth year, Remedy Oak Golf Club’s annual golf day has raised an impressive £7,500 for a new heart failure unit in the University Hospital Southampton.
Held in honour of Jim Monro - a celebrated heart surgeon who operated on more than 12,000 patients at the hospital - the golf day saw 84 players teeing off for a day of competitive golf at Remedy Oak Golf Club in the heart of Dorset.
Through a charity auction and raffle, the day raised funds for renovations at the D2 ward at the University Hospital Southampton and help support its efforts to become the UK’s leading heart failure unit.

After a day of golfing in the glorious sunshine, Hi-Acre Construction claimed top honours, taking home the Jim Monro Memorial Trophy as well ‘Longest Drive’ and ‘Nearest the Pin’.
Second place went to C Ford Plastering, third to James Munce’s second team and Luke Donnelly of Liberty Leasing secured the ‘Beat the Pro’ prize.

CEO of Heartbeat Mark Ind said: “Remedy Oak Golf Club have been a loyal supporter to Heartbeat for over 15 years holding one of their annual charity golf days. The D2 unit will provide life-saving care to so many patients and the money raised will make such an enormous impact.
Sponsors included Peter Cooper Motor Group, Brown & Brown Insurance and Risk Management, Silcom Recruitment, Hildon Water and Lee Peck Media.
“I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the event organisers and sponsors whose generosity and hard work made the day such a success.”
Operations Manager Aaron Bullock from Remedy Oak Golf Club said: “We’re very proud of our partnership with Heartbeat at Remedy Oak. This year’s total is remarkable and we’re looking forward to seeing the difference it will make to one of the city’s busiest hospitals.”
