Leading south coast law firm Paris Smith LLP has partnered with cardiac charity Heartbeat to become its chosen charity of the year.
Following its nomination by several members of staff at the firm, Heartbeat was chosen with a clear majority by the staff at Paris Smith, as the charity they wished to support for the coming 12 month period.
Cardiac charity Heartbeat raises funds to support the Wessex Cardiac Unit at University Hospital Southampton for specialised equipment and pioneering projects to improve patient care. The charity also provides free, home-from-home accommodation for patients’ relatives at Rotary Heartbeat House, located directly opposite the hospital.
With a goal to raise up to £10,000, Paris Smith will be offering sponsorship for Heartbeat’s events, as well as running various fundraisers during the year to help achieve their target.
Charlotte Farrell and Tabytha Cunningham, who jointly chair the Charity Committee at Paris Smith, said: “Partnering with Heartbeat allows us to make a meaningful contribution to an organisation delivering vital services within our community. This is made even more poignant as several members of the firm have firsthand experience of the support they can offer. When we asked staff to nominate a charity, Heartbeat was a name that clearly stood out. Through this partnership, we look forward to combining sponsorship, fundraising and volunteering to allow patients and their families to benefit from the care and support the charity is available to offer and to help contribute towards the pioneering research projects the charity supports.”
Heartbeat’s CEO Mark Ind said: “We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as charity partner with Paris Smith. As a charity that receives no government or council funding, partnerships like this are vital in helping us continue to fund pioneering equipment and services that improve cardiac care in our region and we’d like to thank Paris Smith for their support.”
