A Southampton cardiac charity has received a generous £1,000 donation from the team at John Lewis, helping to support its work with cardiac patients and their families across the region.

Heartbeat, which supports cardiac care and patients at University Hospital Southampton, has received the generous donation from the John Lewis team, with the money set to go towards cutting medical equipment not currently available within the NHS.

The latest donation, which was raised by the shops Community Matters Scheme, marks another milestone in Heartbeat’s growing relationship with John Lewis, which is developing into an exciting partnership with opportunities for Partners and customers to get involved in supporting the charity.

As part of the partnership, the organisations are also exploring a special charity shopping experience event, giving supporters the chance to combine their shopping with fundraising for Heartbeat.

Community Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Tanya Harder said: "We are truly touched by the generosity of the team at John Lewis and incredibly grateful for their support. Donations like this have a meaningful impact on the work we do and help us continue supporting people in our local community when they need it most.

"We are also excited about the opportunities to strengthen our partnership and work together in the future. On behalf of everyone at Heartbeat, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the entire John Lewis team for championing Heartbeat, believing in our mission, and helping us make a lasting difference to the lives of local people."

Tom Crome Deputy Branch Manager from John Lewis said:  "We’re delighted to be able to support Heartbeat with this £1,000 donation and to play a part in the fantastic work it does for cardiac patients and their families across Southampton and the wider region.

“It’s been great to see our partnership with Heartbeat grow and we’re really looking forward to continuing to work together and finding new ways for our Partners and customers to get involved and support such an important local charity.”
