Sun, Sea and Smiles: A Special Beach Day for Our Heartbeat Young People

This August, our wonderful Cardiac Youth Workers, Becky and Kim, organised a truly memorable day at the beach for our young cardiac patients and their families. It was a day filled with sunshine, laughter, friendship, and the opportunity to create lasting memories together by the sea.

The event was made even more special thanks to the incredible generosity of the Brittan family, who kindly lent us their beach hut for the day. The beach hut provided the perfect base for families to relax, socialise, and enjoy some welcome shade from the summer sunshine. Their kindness helped create a welcoming space where everyone could come together and enjoy the day, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.

From the moment families arrived, there was a fantastic atmosphere. Whether it was enjoying freshly cooked hot dogs, competing in spirited games of giant Jenga, building magnificent sandcastles, or cooling off with a paddle in the sea, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The beach was alive with activity as young people and their families embraced the opportunity to have fun, be active, and enjoy time outdoors together.

Beyond the games and seaside adventures, the day offered something even more valuable: the chance for Heartbeat families to connect with one another. Parents and young people were able to share experiences, build friendships, and support each other in a relaxed and informal setting. These opportunities to come together are an important part of what makes the Heartbeat community so special.

As the afternoon drew to a close and the sun began to set, it was clear that the beach day had been about much more than simply spending a day by the sea. It was a chance for families to take a break from the challenges of everyday life, strengthen connections, and enjoy being part of a supportive community that understands their journey.

The day was a wonderful success, and we would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make it such a memorable occasion. A special thank you once again to the Brittan family for their generosity and support.
