Two major corporate sponsors have been announced as a celebrity duo gets ready to take on an 18-hour golfing challenge in aid of Southampton cardiac charity Heartbeat.

Peter Cooper Motor Group and Bizpedia are backing the ‘Beatts and Tubes’ golf challenge, which will see former Premier League striker James Beattie and ex-Soccer AM presenter Peter ‘Tubes’ Dale team up to take on 18 holes across 18 courses in just 18 hours, travelling between venues throughout Hampshire and Dorset in a gruelling test of endurance and skill.

The golfing adventure will begin at Boundary Lakes Golf Course in Hedge End and finish at Remedy Oak in Wimborne, with stops along the way at South Winchester, Bramshaw and Parkstone clubs to name a few.

Funds raised through the challenge will support the renovation of Rotary Heartbeat House, a “home from home” safe haven that provides comfort and accommodation for relatives of cardiac patients from across the Wessex region and beyond during some of their most difficult times.

Josh from Bizpedia said: “We were delighted to get involved as sponsors for this challenge. The duo are raising money for a cause that’s making a difference right on our doorstep. We feel it’s important to back good causes like Heartbeat that have a direct and lasting impact on people’s lives here in the region. We hope this event can also inspire others to get involved and support such an important cause. Hopefully James and Peter will see plenty of sunshine on the day!”

Darren Cooper from Peter Cooper Motor Group: “This is such a creative way to raise money for Heartbeat - a charity that plays a crucial role in supporting cardiac care across the Wessex area. We have huge admiration for what James and Tubes are taking on - 18 courses in 18 hours is a big test of endurance. and we’re proud to be part of something that will make a real difference to patients and their families. We wish them the very best of luck on the day.”

Matthew Cornick, Events and Corporate Fundraising Co-Ordinator of Heartbeat commented: “We are incredibly humbled by the support from our corporate partners, such as Bizpedia and Peter Cooper Motor Group, and especially by James and Peter for taking on this remarkable challenge to help raise vital funds for Heartbeat.

These funds will allow us to continue supporting cardiac patients and their families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Heartbeat is about far more than just projects, it’s about standing beside the entire cardiac community, providing comfort, care and support not only for patients, but for their loved ones too.

From families living just minutes from the hospital to those travelling from across the Wessex region and beyond, we are committed to ensuring nobody faces these challenges alone.”
