Portswood Waitrose donates £1,000 to Southampton cardiac charity

Waitrose Portswood has continued its partnership with Southampton cardiac charity Heartbeat with another generous donation.

The charity has received £1,000 from Waitrose as part of John Lewis & Partners’ Community Matters initiative – a quarterly charitable giving programme which sees customers vote for a good cause with plastic green tokens dropped off after their shop.

Last year, Waitrose donated £2,500 to help improve the care and support the charity’s D2 Ward based at University Hospital Southampton can deliver to its patients.

This latest donation will go towards funding pioneering projects for both cardiac patients and supporting their families in their time of need.

As part of the charity’s fundraising efforts, Heartbeat will also be bringing its Heart & Stroll event to Southampton Common once again this year – a family and dog friendly 5km charity walk taking place on Sunday 28th June.

Marketing Manager at Heartbeat Tanya Harder said: “We’re delighted to have such a great relationship with the team at Waitrose Portswood. The £1,000 donation will go towards helping us continue making a difference to cardiac patients and their families with new projects. I’d like to thank Waitrose Portswood for thinking of us and making such a significant contribution. They’re one of our valued community partners.”

Partner and Team Manager at Waitrose Portswood Simon Couldwell said: "Heartbeat plays a vital role within Southampton and beyond. It is committed to providing the very best care for cardiac patients so they can live healthy and happy lives.”
