Charity Fundraiser returns after 3 years and raises over £3,000 for Heartbeat

This special fundraiser raised £3,000 for Heartbeat.

Since the event was launched in 2000, the event has raised over £74,000 for local charities and sees the participants compete for the coveted Rider Trophy.

After the golf, the evening played host to a dinner and a charity raffle and auction, with proceeds going to Wessex Heartbeat.

This year, heart transplant patient Robbie Burns spoke of his journey living with a congenital heart condition and then having to receive a heart transplant.

The event was started by Ron Chamberlain in 2000 as a South Wonston Shop v The Social club. In those days a bucket was passed around at the event to fine people for misdemeanours. For the first few years the money went to Naomi House and then they started to look at other charities, plus sponsorship, raffles and auctions.

In 2019 Wessex Heartbeat became the chosen charity and that year the event raised over £5,000. The organising team once again decided to support WHB in 2022 raising £4,000 and 2023 raising a further £3,000.
