A charity in Southampton has received a kind donation of £10,000 to help it continue supporting patients with heart conditions and their close relatives.

Fund Administrators Saltgate have made the generous donation to Heartbeat as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local communities.

The money will go towards renovating the charity’s Rotary Heartbeat House, a ‘home from home’ based just a stone’s throw from University Hospital Southampton where families and loved ones can be close by during life-saving or life-changing invasive cardiac surgery.

With communal spaces, kitchen and laundry facilities, and a peaceful garden area, Rotary Heartbeat House is built to help those from across the Wessex region and beyond who may need to run to a loved one’s side suddenly.

With the house serving many communities across the South of England for the past 30 years, plans were revealed in 2025 for renovations of the House to bring it up to date with more modern requirements.

CEO of Heartbeat Mark Ind said it was a big project, but once completed the House will be significantly improved for patients and families. “Several of the house’s guests have come from Jersey, highlighting just how far Rotary Heartbeat House’s impact stretches and how specialist the cardiac unit is at the University Hospital Southampton” he said.

“Saltgate’s donation will go towards improving our amazing facility where guests can support one another in very anxious times. We are immensely grateful to the company for making such a generous contribution towards our renovation project.”

Saltgate launched in 2007 to provide fund administration and accounting services for private equity, debt, and real estate asset classes. Saltgate has offices in Jersey, Luxembourg and London.

Ali French from Saltgate said: “We loved getting to know the team and the amazing work Heartbeat does. It’s a charity firmly rooted in its local area that’s now reaching out far and wide through Rotary Heartbeat House. We are delighted to partner with Heartbeat to make a positive difference to families experiencing significant emotional and logistical challenges.”
